Welcome to my website
I am so happy that you have chosen to check out my website. You are very welcome, whoever you are and wherever you are from.
I recognise that many of you logging on to this website for the first time may be slightly confused by the emphasis on Ukraine, so perhaps a word of explanation may help. Back in 1992, a year after Ukraine had won it’s independence from the former USSR, I was asked to be part of an international team on a fact-finding mission for the Baptist World Alliance.
We were sent out from Kyiv, two by two to ten major cities. So, it was that I found myself in Cherkassy. On the Sunday evening, I was invited to preach at the First Baptist Church and after the service to meet with the deacons. They asked me to share my testimony with them and, at the point when I revealed that I had become a Christian in prison, the man opposite me became very animated. “WE HAVE JUST STARTED A MINISTRY IN THE LOCAL PRISON AND HAVE BEEN TOLD WE CAN CONVERT A ROOM INTO A CHAPEL” As I listened to those words being translated, I sensed a deep stirring in my spirit. He confirmed to me that he planned to do it as soon as he had enough money. When I asked him how much he needed, it was precisely the sum I had in my back pocket. I passed it across the table to him and said, “Build you chapel”. So, began a ministry, which expanded from the prisons, to orphanages, hospitals, church planting, setting up cottage homes for orphans and homeless children, a Bible school, enabling young people to study at colleges and universities, and the creation of an amazing camping and conference facility called Kompas Park.
Now, in my eightieth year, I am no longer able to travel. Three long term health issues, mean that I am among the many most vulnerable to Covid 19. However, I was challenged by an Australian friend to see the opportunity of using my confinement to do as the Apostle Paul did, when he was confined to house arrest in Rome. He had a parchment, a quill and a courier. I now have a website, a Facebook account and YouTube. So welcome one and all to my new journey from home.
